Dog taken from AEZA (29/12/08)
Grande has been taken from the kennels, please help find him if you can.
Caros sócios e amigos da AEZA;
Gostaria de apelar a todos que estão a receber este apelo, o favor de estarem atentos e se virem alguém com o nosso GRANDE, façam o favor de denunciar à AEZA ou às autoridades locais;
Obrigado.
Com os melhores cumprimentos;
A.Frade

Nico´s was always a nice and kind dog, very friendly to people and other dogs.
Our friend and activist Gerlinde arranged a Temporary Family for him in Baviera. Finally Nico founded his Adoption Family in Nuremberga where he seems to be very pleased. From there here we have these Nico´s photos to cheer us all specially to cheer his saver Eunice Teixeira and Gerlinde.
Zoophilic greetings,
Vasco Reis

Adoption news - Ruca
This is Ruca. She left AEZA about three years ago to a nice family in Germany, thanks to Helga Schäfer. Our friend Gerlinde had visited them recently and here are Ruca and his new family photos. She live now in a big house with big garden in Uglfing, about 70 km from Munique.
Adoption news - Mascote
Photos from Mascot who was in AEZA last year and thanks to our friend Gerlinde she became another Volkmann family member.
Adoption news - Poppie
Poppie has gone to her new home in Marbella, Spain.
Thanks to everyone, specially Dr.Vasco Reis and Marisa, Poppie is now going to her new home.
Left alone in the streets without food or water and with her fur totally painted by pink spray, Poppie was rescued by AEZA's friends, Eduarda and Margarida until they come to get her to her new home and owner. Today was that day and Poppie arrived in Marbella, Spain hoping to be well-cared for and loved as she deserves. Thank you all.
Latest adoption - Lady
Another life saved thanks to AEZA.
The sweet Faustina aka Lady were for adoption in AEZA but thanks to our efforts and dedication she founded a new home with an excellent family in Portimão.
Lady´s new owners invited Marisa to see Lady´s new home and she went there and confirmed what was predicted: Lady is very happy with her new life and everyone is charmed by her.
A great adoption, another furry friend that will have a new life thanks to AEZA`s efforts.
Thanks to everyone involved!!
AEZA offering public service....to humans:
Our efforts aren´t only for animals in the kennel and here is the proof that you can confirm in the photos. In these photos you can see 2 of 7 dog houses (offered by an AEZA friend) that we gave to people who have dogs and love them the most but don´t have the possibilities to give them all the needs and care that they´ve wish for.
AEZA gave 4 dog houses, 4 drinking bowls and the promise of passing by periodically to see if the animals are all OK.
This all happened in 4th of October...a gift on World Animal Day....
AEZA was at the AMOVATE car boot on Sunday
AEZA was once again at the AMOVATE car boot sale thanks to some of our friends and members who gave their time to as you can see in photos below.
This time we took a few of our furry friends and once again our efforts were worthwhile: we made a new member; handmade objects were sold and the most important gain: AEZA´s work and mission were made known to all the people who visited.
The animals thank you all, specially to the ones who spent their time in this precious mission on Sunday morning...
Latest adoption - Puky
This time, we have news of Puky who came to AEZA with the imminent risk of being put down.
He was treated by us, sterilised, deloused and has now been adopted by Cidália who has two dogs already in Albufeira.
Another happy ending and further proof that associations such as AEZA, are doing really well!
Câmara Municipal de Aljezur offer AEZA a van to help the animals:
AEZA have asked for help from the Câmara Municipal de Aljezur so that they can continue doing their important work helping animals, capturing them, transporting them for various purposes such as taking them for veterinary treatments, sterilisations etc.
At first, AEZA proposed paying for the van with 40% of donations and Câmara Municipal de Aljezur the remaining 60% but AEZA received the great news that the Câmara will pay for the van totally.
It´s a second-hand Opel Combo but it is in great condition and it´s very important for AEZA because now they don´t need to transport the animals in their own cars.
Happy Endings - Melra
Remember Melra who was at the shelter?
She has been adopted at the campaign in Aljezur and now lives in her new home in Monchique. Her new owner is Dona Teresa and we wish them both a great life together!
Current cleaning list published
The cleaning list for the shelter is now up to 30th November. The details are in the document. For contact information or if you need to change your day please email us.

World Rabies Day - 28th September 2008
On the 28th of September we celebrate for the second year the World Rabies Day, with the theme “Working Together to Make Rabies History!”.
In this event national and international organisations are participating, such as World Organisation for Animal Health, World Health Organisation, Disease Prevention Control Center, WVA (World Veterinary Association), Pan American Health Organization, and others.
The World Rabies Day campaigns have as their primary aim to promote disease control and prevention for example by alerting the population to its importance.
Despite being eradicated in Portugal since 1960, the rabies virus contributes to at least 55,000 deaths around the world. In 2007 74 countries joined this event promoting free vaccination campaigns, conferences, museum exhibitions and zoo visits.
Remember that in Portugal the rabies vaccination is annual and mandatory for all dogs. If you give this vaccine to your dog you´re protecting yourself, him and in addition you´re contributing to the elimination of this disease which is still present in lots of countries.
In the World Rabies Day website www.worldrabiesday.org you can search all the campaigns and initiatives that are being organised.
The Portuguese Veterinary Department has also created a poster (in Portuguese) which aims to help everyone understand this disease better www.dgv.min-agricultura.pt.

AEZA at the Amovate car boot sale
As you can see in the photos, AEZA attended the car boot sale, which happens every first Sunday of each month, at Amovate in Vale de Telha. Our friend Faith has had the good will to be present, receiving some gifts for AEZA, in addition to promoting the important work done by us.
If you have any unwanted items or if you want to make some kind of craft work for sale next car boot; they will certainly be very welcome!
